Does Maternal Diet Influence Blood Pressure of Infant?
Category: Women's Health
Information about the influence of the maternal diet on the subsequent offspring has always been an interesting topic. Maternal diets have been shown to affect the development of certain diseases in the offspring, especially diabetes.
The results of the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children were published in May. The study examined the effects that maternal diet had on the blood pressure in the children. 6,944 women with singleton pregnancies were enrolled in the study and follow up was carried out 7 1/2 years later.
The study found no association between maternal diet and the outcome of blood pressure in offspring.
