Reservatrol Reduces Cancer Risk

The cell study, published in the Journal of the European Molecular Biology Organization (2004, vol. 23, no. 12), investigated the effects of resveratrol on the expression of NF-kB in human cancer cells. Researchers at the University of Virginia treated human cancer cells with resveratrol, which inhibited N--kB regulated gene expression and sensitized cells to tumor necrosis factor apha (TNFa).

The researchers found that resveratrol and TNFa together induced apoptosis (cancer cell death). These findings suggest that combining resveratrol and TNFa-like compounds may be an effective way to kill cancer cells and discourage cancer growth.
